What is Thorn melon

thorn melon which is also called as African cucumber is a tree that bears fruit once a year. Kiwano fruit is originated from Africa but it is also being grown in California, Australia and New Zeeland too.

As long as it flowers it changes it shape and generates thorns like horns. The eatable part of this fruit is shiny and green and it has a jelly-like consistence. Although it tastes like banana its seeds look like tomatoes’ or cucumbers’. Thorn melon Fruit rind which is very rich in terms of vitamin C and fibers is eatable.

Thorn Melon Smoothie

Thorn Melon Smoothie is very yummy. Kiwano melon is a really rich fruit. Kiwano smoothie is a unique flavor and we definitely recommend it.

Ingredients

  • 1 kiwano
  • 1 pear
  • 1 apple
  • 200 ml half skimmed milk
  • 1 spoon of fruit yogurt
  • 1 spoon of vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  • Peel of the kiwano, pear and the apple then scour them well. Then slice them into little cubes. You can frost them in freezer before you use them if you wish. 
  • Then put 200 ml half skimmed milk and a spoon of fruit yogurt in a blender and add the frozen fruits. 
  • Lastly after you add a spoon of vanilla ice cream mix them well and add some ice cubes in order to make it cold and less intense. Now your Kiwano Smoothie Recipe is ready to drink, we believe that you will like it.
