How to make Crock Pot Beef Stew Recipe ? this recipe is very tasty and you have to try it.
This recipe for slow cooker Swiss steak is very simple. With few ingredients, it makes a great meal with very little effort and the gravy it renders, is absolutely superb. I serve it over mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
Before I started using the crock pot, I used to cook everything the long and hard way. I used to cook my Swiss steak in an electric frying pan. I don’t know if they even still sell them. It would take 2 or so hours to get the meat tender and I would have to attend to it constantly and if I would forget it. Look out! The liquid in the pan would evaporate and the meat would start to stick to the bottom of the pan. Electric frying pans are vented and meant to cook in that way. The steam comes off the food and condenses the liquid so that you have to keep adding liquid to cook the food.
Apparently the electric frying pan wasn’t as versatile as I thought it should be. But, at the time, I just couldn’t get used to the idea of putting meat in a slow cooker and thinking it would turn out good tasting. I felt you had to slave over a hot stove to create anything really good. I was wrong.
My sister eventually set me straight on the many benefits of the slow cooker. I got this recipe from my sister who is the queen of easy recipe fare. She will never cook anything that consists of more than a few ingredients and can’t be cooked within less than 15 minutes of her time. So the slow cooker is great for her.
She always manages, though, to cook something savory and easy at the same time.
