- ¼ cup cocoa
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 3 eggs, well-beaten
- 1 ¼ cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- Preheat oven at 350°F (180).
- Grease and line baking pan with baking paper or lightly dust with flour.
- Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, beating lightly. Sift flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture, alternating with milk. Beat mixture well.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before frosting.

4 cups icing sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa (more if you want it darker)
½ cup butter
3 tablespoons milk or cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract Directions 1. In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, butter, milk, and vanilla extract.
2. Using an electric mixer, beat at medium speed for 5-10 minutes, until creamy. If too thick, add more milk.
3. Decorate cake as desired.
