Valentine’s Day Rice Crispy Treats

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

Valentine’s Day is best celebrated when you celebrate with loved ones. Make it special for someone with these cute heart shaped Valentine’s Day Rice Crispy Treats. I love these because they are so pink. Have I told you before pink is my favorite color? When I was younger, whenever I had to paint anything or buy any outfit, I’d go for pink. Cyan is my other favorite color. This was the crayon that I’d run out of first, always 🙂

Because pink is one of my favorite colors, I love to make Valentines themed recipes and DIY projects this time around. SV and I had a great time making these Valentine’s Day Rice Crispy Treats. These are super delicious and will be gone before you know it. I had to keep us from consuming all of these to click these pictures. As soon as our photo session was done, we saved one small and one big heart for Sam, and rest were gone within minutes.

Close to Valentine’s Day, we are going to make gift bags with these rice crispy treats, something like these picures. SV is going to gift these to his cousins and friends. He is pretty excited about it.

Normally, I make rice crispy treats for SV without using the red food coloring and they are regular shaped. This one we wanted to make a theme out of, so Valentine’s Day calls for pink color and heart shapes. Making these rice crispies is pretty straight forward. You need only handful of ingredients – Rice Crispies, Marshmallows, Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter, Butter and Red food coloring. Add some color with sprinkles, but these are totally optional.

Valentine’s Day Rice Crispy Treats recipe

To make these cute rice crispy treats, you have to start by melting the butter. I used microwave safe bowl, placed the butter in it and microwave for 15 seconds. Stir with spoon. Microwave for another 15 seconds, stir again. Repeat until the butter is completely melted.

Add marshmallows to the melted butter. Microwave again for 15 seconds. Stir with wooden spatula. Microwave again for 15 seconds. Stir. Repeat until the butter and marshmallow mix is completely melted.

Add a drop or two of red food coloring. Depending on how red you want your rice crispies to be, add or reduce the color. Mix until incorporated fully.

Add rice crispies. Mix really well. Rice crispies will start showing pink in color.

Line the baking sheet with wax paper. Spread out the pink crispy mixture evenly on the baking sheet. Make sure to evenly flatten the surface with wooden spatula. Sprinkle your favorite sprinkles.

Let it cool for sometime. When it is firm enough, using heart shaped cookie cutter, cut out the hearts.

There you go! Enjoy these cute heart shaped Valentine’s Day Rice Crispy Treats with your loved ones. These rice crispies make such cute gift ideas when you pack one or two in a goodie bag, tie with red or pink ribbon and attach a cute gift tag with that!
