  • 3 cloves of garlic, chopped but not too fine

  • 1 14 oz cans of beef broth
  • 1 14 oz can Italian tomatoes with basil and garlic
  • 3/4 cup elbow or small shell pasta
  • 1 1/2 cups thinly sliced escarole leaves, its a less bitter than endive
  • 1/2 cup canned green beans
  • 1 15 oz can kidney beans or white beans
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh basil leaves or 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • parmesan cheese
