Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 lb pork shoulder or pork butt (I have tried both bonless and bone-in and I prefer boneless)
  • 2 tbls Worcestershire sauce

Spicy Pulled Pork Rub

  • 2 tbls chile powder
  • 1 tbl ground cumin
  • 2 tbl brown sugar
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbl dried oregano leaves
  • 1 tbl granulated sugar
  • 3 tbls paprika

Instructions

  • Have pork at room temperature. Mix all spice rub ingredients together in a small bowl, set aside.2. Rub the meat with the Worcestershire sauce. Massage the spice rub into meat. Pat it on as thick as you can. Double wrap in plastic wrap and place in a sealable plastic bag. Place in the refrigerator for 3 to 24 hours.3. Remove pork from the refrigerator, unwrap and place in the bottom of slow cooker. Set cooker to low for 8 to 9 hours, depending on the size of the roast.4. When pork is done, remove it from the crock pot and wrap it in foil for about 30 to 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, remove pork from foil and shred it with two forks. Serve with dipping sauce.(recipe below) Or serve as the traditional sandwich on a buttered bun piled high with dill pickles and coleslaw.
